Softball Recap: Avon Orioles vs. Roncalli Royals
Avon had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it five. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roncalli Royals. The Orioles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Zoey Chavez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Pickering, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
As for Roncalli, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 11-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average this season.
On Roncalli's side, they got a massive performance out of Carley Keller, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Keller has posted since back in April of 2024. Bennie Leffler was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Avon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-3 victory against Brownsburg on the 29th. As for Roncalli, they will square off against Franklin Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
