Baseball Recap: Saratoga Springs Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Saratoga Springs had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Albany Academy for Boys on Monday. The Blue Streaks were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Cadets. For the Blue Streaks, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Cadets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Brady Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mills was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Peyton Keegan looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Adam Weiss and Raul Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Weiss went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Weiss has posted since back in April. Jack Covell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Saratoga Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Albany Academy for Boys only posted an OBP of .344.

Saratoga Springs has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Albany Academy for Boys, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-6.

Coming up, Saratoga Springs will host Bethlehem Central at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Albany Academy for Boys, they will venture away from home to face off against La Salle Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Salle Institute's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Albany Academy for Boys' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
