Santa Fe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 28-27 heartbreaker at the hands of the Covina Colts. On the bright side, the 27- point effort marked the Chiefs' highest-scoring game to date.

Cole Castaneda threw for 146 yards and one TD. Xander Arias was his top target, picking up 83 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Luke Hitch rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns.

Covina had a senior duo take command as Roy Vazquez threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns and Matt Olivas picked up 179 receiving yards and three TDs. With that strong performance, Olivas is now averaging an impressive 101.2 receiving yards per game.

Santa Fe's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Covina, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Santa Fe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 34-12 win against Whittier on the 3rd. As for Covina, they have also already played their next contest, a 49-27 loss against Chino on the 3rd.
