Basketball Game Preview: Coventry Comets vs. Ravenna Ravens

The Coventry Comets will venture away from home to challenge the Ravenna Ravens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Coventry and six for Ravenna.

Last Thursday, Coventry lost to Springfield at home by a 53-37 margin.

Despite the loss, Coventry had strong showings from Aunna Coteat, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards, and Madalyn Matheney, who posted nine points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Coteat is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Even though they lost, Coventry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Ravenna was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 38-33 to Newton Falls.

Ravenna's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Coventry, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Coventry was able to grind out a solid win over Ravenna in their previous matchup back in January, winning 39-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coventry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
