Baseball Recap: Slinger Owls vs. West Bend West Spartans
It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Slinger ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the West Bend West Spartans. The Owls haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Matthew Retzlaff looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Grady Chvosta was excellent, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Chase Leverance also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Slinger kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.
