Recap: Elizabeth Minutemen vs. Union Catholic Vikings
The Elizabeth Minutemen entered their tilt with the Union Catholic Vikings with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Elizabeth walked away with a 58-47 win over Union Catholic on Thursday. Given Elizabeth's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Union Catholic is ranked 73rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
London Carson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Elizabeth's points. Another player making a difference was Cameron Mcrae, who scored 12 points.
Elizabeth pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Union Catholic, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Elizabeth will face off against Colonia at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Colonia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Union Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Morris Knolls at 12:00 p.m. Morris Knolls will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
