Basketball Recap: Wayne Academy Comes Up Short

Wayne Academy lost against Simpson Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wayne Academy Jaguars received a blow as they fell 62-46 to the Simpson Academy Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Cougars are ranked 31st).

Wayne Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Simpson Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

The future could be bright for both Wayne Academy and Simpson Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Wayne Academy will try to hand Park Place Christian Academy their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Simpson Academy will look to extend Pillow Academy's 12-game losing streak when the meet at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
