Basketball Recap: Port Gibson Takes a Loss

Port Gibson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 57-40 fall against the Franklin County Bulldogs. The Blue Waves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 54-50.

When it comes to explaining why Port Gibson lost, don't look at Ger'Kiya Flowers. Despite the final result, she posted 26 points and four steals. The match was Flowers' third in a row with at least ten points. Destiny Neal was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Port Gibson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Franklin County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Port Gibson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Richland at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Port Gibson is facing Richland at the right time seeing as Richland is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Franklin County, they will challenge Wesson at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th.
