Basketball Recap: Glenwood Takes a Loss

Glenwood and Lee-Scott Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Glenwood had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-49 last Monday.

Despite the loss, Glenwood still got an impressive performance from Bobbi Taylor Breazeale, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Taylor Breazeale also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Mimi Johnson was another key player, putting up ten points and six blocks.

Even though they lost, Glenwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Lee-Scott Academy found their leader in freshman Clarke Ivatt, who went 7 for 16 en route to 20 points and six boards. The contest was Ivatt's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Haynes Keesee, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and four steals.

Glenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Lee-Scott Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-11.

Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Glenwood will face off against Saint James at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Saint James will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Glenwood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they will square off against Montgomery Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Lee-Scott Academy's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Montgomery Academy has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
