Softball Preview: Madera Coyotes vs. Bullard Knights

Madera and Bullard are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Madera Coyotes will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Bullard Knights at 3:30 p.m. Neither Madera nor Bullard posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Madera owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance last Tuesday. They skirted past Clovis 2-0.

Madera got a great performance from Jayleen Gutknecht as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Madera's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Malea Ricks, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Brilynn Santiago was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Bullard lost a close one when they played on Thursday but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 8-2 walloping at the hands of El Segundo. Bullard has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Madera is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. As for Bullard, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Madera suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Bullard when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can Madera avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
