Baseball Game Preview: Glendora Tartans vs. Silverado Hawks

The Glendora Tartans will take on the Silverado Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Glendora will be strutting in after a victory while Silverado will be coming in after a defeat.

On Saturday, Glendora needed a bit of extra time to put away Claremont. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolfpack, sneaking past 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Tanner Grable tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Glendora is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Glendora's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason Danison, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Silverado unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 9-3 to Granite Hills.

Jace Weiss put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. Weiss was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Glendora pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Silverado, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Glendora has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Silverado struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts.
