It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Genesee ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Central Square Redhawks 7-6. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Redhawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Alivia Dunn looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Alanna Bowman was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Makayla Dunham, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
West Genesee now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Central Square, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Genesee will venture away from home to take on Baldwinsville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central Square, they will head out to face off against Fulton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
