Basketball Recap: Sage Ridge Comes Up Short

Sage Ridge dropped down to 3-4 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were dealt a 73-32 defeat at the hands of the Yerington Lions. While losing is never fun, the Scorpions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Lions are ranked 16th).

When it comes to explaining why Sage Ridge lost, don't look at Taylor Sullins. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. Sullins' big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

As for Yerington, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 28 points or more this season.

Colby Rowe had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 42% from the field to rack up 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last five games he's played. Ruben Jimenez was another key player, going 5-for-9 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

Sage Ridge will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Excel Christian at 11:00 a.m. on January 3, 2026. As for Yerington, they have already played their next game, a 60-35 win against Sierra Lutheran on the 16th.
