Baseball Recap: Economedes' Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Economedes made up a huge gap compared to their last game against La Joya, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Jaguars blew past the Coyotes 10-1 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Gilbert Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Economedes is 6-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-14 otherwise. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexander Garcia, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Economedes is 4-2 when Garcia posts two or more runs, but 3-15 otherwise. Josiah Villareal was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Economedes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 5-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Economedes' record is now 7-17. As for La Joya, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-8.

Economedes will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Coyotes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
