Basketball Recap: Seton Catholic Takes a Loss

On Thursday, the Seton Catholic Sentinels were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-43 to the Coolidge Bears.

Despite the loss, Seton Catholic still got an impressive performance from Dylan Alvidrez, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Alvidrez a new career-high in points. Ryan Morris was another key player, putting up six points.

It was another big night for Preston Dees, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds for Coolidge. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dees has scored at least a third of Coolidge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Dees, who posted eight points and six boards.

Seton Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Coolidge, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Seton Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Apache Junction at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Seton Catholic is facing Apache Junction at the right time seeing as Apache Junction is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Coolidge has already played their next match, a 63-58 loss against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy on the 25th.
