Baseball Game Preview: Menahga Braves vs. Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines

Menahga is 2-8 against Wadena-Deer Creek since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Braves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 1:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Menahga is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 16-11 win over Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Braves as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Wadena-Deer Creek had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans a 2-0 shutout.

Not much got past Connor Dutke, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Sebeka off the board. Dutke also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wadena-Deer Creek is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Wadena-Deer Creek's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kobe Syder, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Hunter Sweere also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Wadena-Deer Creek's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Menahga, their win bumped their record up to 2-10.
