Softball Recap: St. Mary's Dominican Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

St. Mary's Dominican won the last time they faced Academy of Our Lady and things went their way on Thursday too. St. Mary's Dominican came out on top against Academy of Our Lady by a score of 9-6.

Miya Burford looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Raegan Porche and Catherine Andrade did most of the damage at the plate: Porche scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Andrade went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, Porche posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Lusco, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

St. Mary's Dominican's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Academy of Our Lady, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-10.

Looking ahead, St. Mary's Dominican will host Vandebilt Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academy of Our Lady, they will take on Lutcher at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
