Basketball Game Preview: Denison-Schleswig Monarchs vs. St. Albert Falcons

The Denison-Schleswig Monarchs will head out on the road to take on the St. Albert Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Denison-Schleswig has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with 12 straight losses, while St. Albert will come in with three straight wins.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-15, which was the final score in Denison-Schleswig's tilt against Lewis Central on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Titans are ranked 105th).

Meanwhile, St. Albert hadn't done well against AHSTW recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, St. Albert made off with a 41-40 victory over AHSTW.

St. Albert is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Denison-Schleswig, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Denison-Schleswig strolled past St. Albert in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 68-53. Will Denison-Schleswig repeat their success, or does St. Albert have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
