Softball Game Preview: Mathews Blue Devils vs. King William Cavaliers

Mathews hasn't had much luck against King William recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blue Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Mathews has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Mathews' offense. They lost 17-0 to Middlesex on Tuesday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Blue Devils were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, King William entered their tilt with King & Queen Central on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Royal Tigers get on the board and left with a 28-0 win. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Mathews now has a losing record of 5-6. As for King William, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Mathews suffered a grim 23-2 defeat to King William when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
