Softball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-11 to make it six. They lost 18-1 to the Churchill Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Millers of the 18-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Churchill, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12. The match marked their most dominant win of the season.

For Churchill's part, Sienna Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-6. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jolene Bousquet, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexie Hoberg, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

While Springfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
