Softball Recap: Mckeesport's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

McKeesport had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Gateway Gators with a sharp 12-5 win on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-2 two weeks ago.

Ryenn Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jessica Miller was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendel Bercik, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

McKeesport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

McKeesport's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Gateway, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

McKeesport has already played their next contest (against South Allegheny), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Gateway, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against Hopewell on the 1st.
