Preview: Creekside Christian Academy Cougars vs. Calvary Christian Knights
Creekside Christian Academy has been on the road for five straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Calvary Christian Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Creekside Christian Academy posted their biggest victory since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Konos Academy, posting a 75-40 win on the road. Given Creekside Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Konos Academy is ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Creekside Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Skye Hunter, who scored 31 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hunter has scored at least a third of Creekside Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Placide, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and six blocks.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. Everything went their way against Konos Academy as Calvary Christian made off with a 42-18 win.
Calvary Christian found their leader in underclassman Makayla Elizabeth reed, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Lily Miller, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Creekside Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Calvary Christian, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Creekside Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Calvary Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 22.9 rebounds per game. Given Creekside Christian Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Calvary Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Creekside Christian Academy against Calvary Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 59-29 win.
