Preview: Monroe Redhawks vs. Parkwood Wolf Pack

Monroe is 8-2 against Parkwood since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Monroe Redhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Parkwood Wolf Pack at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

Monroe can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Anson with a sharp 72-48 victory. The win was just what Monroe needed coming off of a 76-54 loss in their prior matchup.

Monroe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Simpkins, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Kaegan Chambers was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Parkwood scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took down Anson 79-65. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to post seven more assists than your opponent, as Parkwood did.

Parkwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron McKinney out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. McKinney has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Paulhill, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Monroe pushed their record up to 7-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Parkwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Monroe couldn't quite finish off Parkwood in their previous matchup back in January and fell 59-57. Will Monroe have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
