Baseball Game Preview: York Institute Dragons vs. Smith County Owls

York Institute hasn't had much luck against Smith County recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Dragons will venture away from home to challenge the Owls at 4:30 p.m. York Institute is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

York Institute proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Monterey 3-2. The game was the first time the Dragons have beaten the Wildcats on their field since March 27, 2023.

Meanwhile, Smith County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Upperman by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Owls couldn't push the score so high this time.

Smith County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Claywell, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

York Institute's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Smith County, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.

York Institute came up short against Smith County in their previous matchup back in March, falling 5-2. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
