Basketball Recap: Fayette County Takes a Loss

Fayette County entered their contest against Sandy Creek on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Fayette County Tigers took a blow against the Sandy Creek Patriots, falling 73-42. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Patriots are ranked 23rd).

When it comes to explaining why Fayette County lost, don't look at Jackson Rutley. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aden Saunders, who had nine points.

Fayette County's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7. As for Sandy Creek, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Fayette County will look to defend their home court on Friday against Upson-Lee at 7:30 p.m. Fayette County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season. Sandy Creek has already played their next game, a 67-63 loss against Mays on the 20th.
