Baseball Recap: Hoxie Has No Trouble Against Brinkley

After only one run in their last contest, Hoxie made sure to put some runs up on the board against Brinkley on Monday. The Hoxie Mustangs blew past the Brinkley Tigers 11-1. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Logan Light was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hoxie is undefeated when Light allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Light was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Hayden McIntire was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Robert Martinez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Hoxie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Hoxie back to even at 3-3. As for Brinkley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Hoxie will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. As for Brinkley, they will venture away from home to face off against Carlisle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
