Basketball Recap: Niobrara/Verdigre Comes Up Short at Home Against Stuart

Niobrara/Verdigre unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 65-27 loss at the hands of the Stuart Broncos. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now lost seven in a row.

Stuart's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavynn Mustin, who went 7 of 10 en route to 17 points, to go along with eight boards and five steals. Mustin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kayde Ramm, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 18 points and three steals.

Niobrara/Verdigre has already played their next contest, a 54-20 defeat against Elgin/Pope John on the 6th. As for Stuart, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-46 victory against Central Valley on the 6th.
