Softball Recap: Central Square Comes Up Short

Central Square dropped their record down to 4-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Fulton Red Raiders by a score of 3-1. The matchup marked the Redhawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Caytlin Redeye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Central Square saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Greismeyer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Kendall Basile also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Fulton, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On Fulton's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Emma Spaulding gave up only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
