Section 5 Genesee Region recap September 24, 2013
Elba/Byron-Bergen scaled the state rankings by moving to 248 from 327 this week, the biggest jump in Section 5 Genesee Region. The Lancers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Holley 41-6.
Oakfield-Alabama took down Finney/Northstar Christian Academy 61-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Elba/Byron-Bergen's dynamic duo of Garrett Chapell and Kyle Dougherty proved to be unstoppable against the Hawks, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Chapell threw for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns and Dougherty had 52 yards receiving.
Michael Cintorino's team's dynamic duo of Chapell and Dougherty proved tough for Holley to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Matt Perry was a passing and rushing force as Attica topped Pembroke.

Perry was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 288 yards on 17 carries as Attica bested Holley. Teammate Cameron Beck added to the ground attack by rushing for 24 yards.
Leading Section 5 Genesee Region in both passing and receiving yards, Elba/Byron-Bergen's Chapell and Dougherty have proven to be a lethal combination. Chapell has thrown for 279 yards this season, while Dougherty, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 6 catches for 196 yards. Rob Cusmano's team's Perry leads the league in rushing yards with 738.
The Lancers are currently in third, while Notre Dame is in first.
Elba/Byron-Bergen made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,838 from 9,421. The improvement came about via a 41-6 victory over the Hawks last week.
