Softball Game Preview: Southwest Onslow Stallions vs. Jacksonville Cardinals

Southwest Onslow hasn't had much luck against Jacksonville recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Southwest Onslow Stallions will be playing at home against the Jacksonville Cardinals at 6:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Southwest Onslow didn't have quite enough to beat James Kenan and fell 10-9. The Stallions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Skylar Phillips was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. Haylie Anderson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jacksonville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Havelock on Tuesday.

Lauren Weston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kendall Kellum, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rayleean Hofmann, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Jacksonville picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Southwest Onslow, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
