Baseball Recap: Mather Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mather, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Roosevelt Rough Riders on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won eight matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jeriel Mejias and Aaron Roman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Mejias tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Roman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mejias has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Mejias went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Roman went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jadier Castillo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was David Goytia, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Mather kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.

The victory got Mather back to even at 10-10. As for Roosevelt, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Mather will face off against Westinghouse at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rangers are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
