Basketball Recap: Kayden Holmes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rudder over Montgomery

Rudder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a hard 58-40 fall against the Montgomery Bears. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-39 back in January.

Rudder's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayden Holmes, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 10 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Jaquise Martin, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Rudder's loss dropped their record down to 14-16. As for Montgomery, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-12.

Rudder will challenge Huntsville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Huntsville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Rudder likes a good challenge. As for Montgomery, they will take on Lake Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
