Football Recap: Horizon Skates Past Wekiva with Ease + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lake Nona, Horizon was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They claimed a resounding 52-0 win over the Wekiva Mustangs. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Hawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Mustangs are ranked 129th).

Horizon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaio Oliveira, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 63 receiving yards and one TD. Oliveira was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 54 yards. Jared Visser was another key passer, throwing for 92 yards and three TDs.

Another reason for the win was Horizon's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 6.5 sacks. David Cole refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Horizon got some further help from Trace Kulczar: he picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Horizon now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wekiva, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon will welcome Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Hawks' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Wekiva, they will challenge Eustis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
