Volleyball Recap: Chatfield Takes a Loss

Chatfield lost against Cherokee Trail back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chargers came up short against the Cougars, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Chargers have suffered against the Cougars since October 27, 2018.

Chatfield was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-19, 25-19.

Emme Mordi paced Chatfield's offense, picking up 12 kills. Mordi were helped by Tally Smith and Kayt Gall, who contributed ten assists each. Gall was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Cherokee Trail was led to victory by Isabella McClinton and Harper Wilson. McClinton had six digs and three aces, while Wilson had eight digs and one assist. That's the most digs McClinton has posted since back in September.

This is the second loss in a row for Chatfield and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Cherokee Trail, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Chatfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Fruita Monument on the 24th. As for Cherokee Trail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Ponderosa on the 24th.
