Baseball Recap: Smithsburg Comes Up Short

Smithsburg lost against Clear Spring on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Leopards fell just short of the Blazers by a score of 10-9. The Leopards have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Smithsburg got a good showing from Isaiah Burger, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Chase Sarber made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Heath Githens, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Smithsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Clear Spring, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Smithsburg has already played their next contest (against North Hagerstown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Clear Spring, they have also already played their next match, a 14-4 victory against Boonsboro on the 19th.
