Baseball Recap: Christian Educational Consortium's Losing Streak Snapped at Ten Games

Christian Educational Consortium can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Bluegrass United Bluehawks. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Bluehawks last Saturday, they had to take a 5-3 loss.

Josh Geddes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Geddes wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Xander Collins, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Collins has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-13. As for Bluegrass United, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Educational Consortium will take on Pleasure Ridge Park at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bluegrass United, they will square off against Nicholas County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
