Baseball Game Preview: St. David Tigers vs. Baboquivari Warriors

St. David is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Baboquivari Warriors at 3:45 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

St. David lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Willcox, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's match. St. David was the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Willcox on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Luke Haymore was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cooper Merrill was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Baboquivari gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener last Friday. They blew past Patagonia 16-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won four contests in a row dating back to last season.

St. David's win bumped their record up to 2-4-1. As for Baboquivari, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Everything went St. David's way against Baboquivari in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as St. David made off with a 22-5 win. Will St. David repeat their success, or does Baboquivari have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
