Basketball Recap: Samson Takes a Loss

Samson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Providence Christian Eagles, falling 84-32. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 76-26 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2021.

Despite the defeat, Samson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ben McKenzie dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brodi Mock, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Samson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 31 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Samson's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Providence Christian, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Samson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-68 victory against Geneva County on the 17th. As for Providence Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-45 win against Cottonwood on the 17th.
