Basketball Game Preview: Akron Rams vs. Byers Bulldogs

The Akron Rams just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Byers Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Akron was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to Haxtun. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Fightin' Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Byers waltzed into their match on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They claimed a resounding 59-29 win over the Cougars. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Akron better keep an eye on Quincy Eacret. He was instrumental in Byers' win, going 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Willoughby, who posted six points and five steals.

Byers' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Akron, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Akron might still be hurting after the 52-32 defeat they got from Byers when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can Akron avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
