Recap: Headland Rams vs. New Brockton Gamecocks
The Headland Rams''s game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against New Brockton as Headland made off with a 42-20 win. Given Headland's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while New Brockton is ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Headland was led to victory by CALEB DOZIER and EASTON BOUTWELL. DOZIER picked up 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while BOUTWELL threw for 120 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. Tylen Williams got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Headland's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. New Brockton's QB won't forget DOZIER anytime soon given DOZIER sacked him four times.
Headland has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for New Brockton, their loss was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Headland will head out on the road to face off against Cottonwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cottonwood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for New Brockton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northside Methodist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northside Methodist Academy is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
