Softball Preview: Sierra Vista Dons vs. El Monte Lions        
        
		
            The Sierra Vista Dons will head out to  take on the El Monte Lions  at 3:30  p.m.  on Friday. Sierra Vista's pitching crew has only allowed four  runs per game  this season, so El Monte's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sierra Vista is headed in fresh off scoring the most  runs they have   all season. They put the hurt on Pasadena with a sharp  17-1 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Dons with their most commanding win of the  season.
Sierra Vista got a  massive  performance out of  Marlene Diaz, who  scored two  runs and  stole  Two bases. while going 4-for-4. Those  runs were  Diaz's first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Aleena Mora, who  scored two  runs and  stole  Three bases. while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.
 Sierra Vista  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .667. The last time their  OBP was this high was  back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, El Monte didn't have quite enough to beat Alhambra on Tuesday and fell  12-11. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Leslie Marquez led a balanced group of hitters,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  RBI (three).  Julissa Flores was another key player,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-4.
 The  victory  got Sierra Vista back to even at 3-3. As for El Monte, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Friday's   game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sierra Vista hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like El Monte struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
