Soccer Game Preview: Mountain Ridge vs. Dobson

The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Dobson Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mountain Ridge's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over Gilbert. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mountain Lions.

Meanwhile, Dobson hadn't done well against Desert Ridge recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Dobson had just enough and edged Desert Ridge out 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Mustangs were the better team in the second half.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Lyla Sanchez, which was the first she's scored this season.

Dobson now has a winning record of 2-1-2. As for Mountain Ridge, their record now sits at 2-0.

Everything went Mountain Ridge's way against Dobson when the teams last played back in December of 2021, as Mountain Ridge made off with a 9-1 victory. Will Mountain Ridge repeat their success, or does Dobson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
