Volleyball Game Preview: Torres Toros vs. Maywood Academy Nighthawks

Torres and Maywood Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2019, but not for long. The Toros will be playing at home against the Nighthawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Torres comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Torres came up short against Maywood CES on Monday, falling 3-0.

Torres took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-10, 25-13.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Maywood Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Elizabeth 3-2. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Maywood Academy who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-27, 25-9, 21-25, 15-11.

Torres' loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Maywood Academy, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
