Baseball Recap: Denison's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Denison can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Aubrey Chaparrals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellow Jackets have posted since March 6th.

Jayden McClain was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Denison: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-16 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristian Carvell, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Denison's win bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Aubrey, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denison will square off against McKinney North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McKinney North's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Denison's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Aubrey, they will head out on the road to square off against Lake Dallas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Aubrey will need to watch out since Lake Dallas has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
