Nathan Hale hasn't had much luck against Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Nathan Hale's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Franklin with a sharp 16-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.
Olen Baumfeld made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Finn Leach and Andrew Goodman did most of the damage at the plate: Leach went 4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Goodman scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Goodman also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Julian Gonzalez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Nathan Hale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Lincoln ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Seattle Academy. Winning may never get old, but the Lynx sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Lincoln pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Nathan Hale, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1.
