Football Recap: Richland County Tigers vs. Newton Eagles
Richland County won against Marshall last Friday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Newton Eagles 57-34. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Richland County was led to victory by Gavyn Cothern and Xavier Owusu-Gyan. Cothern rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, while Owusu-Gyan rushed for 192 yards and three TDs on only 15 carries. Those 192 rushing yards gave Owusu-Gyan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reed Klingler, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one score.
