Baseball Game Preview: Westmont Sentinels vs. Cristo Rey Jesuit Cristeros

The Westmont Sentinels will face off against the Cristo Rey Jesuit Cristeros at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Cristo Rey Jesuit will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Westmont extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Sentinels put the hurt on Newark with a sharp 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Sentinels, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Briggs Templeton, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Yenkin, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Westmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newark only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, while Cristo Rey Jesuit put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Northtown. The Cristeros blew past the Pumas 8-0. The Cristeros haven't had any issues with the Pumas recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Westmont pushed their record up to 13-8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
