Volleyball Preview: New Bedford Whalers vs. Brockton Boxers
New Bedford has won 15 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Brockton has won 15 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, New Bedford got the win against Quincy by a conclusive 3-0. The Whalers haven't had any issues with the Presidents recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
While Brockton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out Weymouth 3-2.
Brockton was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 21-25, 20-25, 28-26, 15-10.
Brockton found their leader in freshman Cody Khang, who had ten digs and two assists. Jonathan Tran also deserves some recognition as he had his first blocks of the season.
