Desert Oasis is a perfect 3-0 against Mojave since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Diamondbacks will challenge the Rattlers at 3:30 p.m. Desert Oasis has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Desert Oasis and Liberty, and Liberty kept the tradition alive. The Diamondbacks lost 11-3 to the Patriots on Wednesday. The Diamondbacks have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Desert Oasis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Veyda Simon, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Mojave never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Las Vegas last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 14-4 win. Considering the Rattlers have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Emiko-Lin Kalani was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kalani was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kaylinn Bentley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jadin Broadnax was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Mojave was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Desert Oasis' loss dropped their record down to 7-6-1. As for Mojave, their record now sits at 5-8.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Desert Oasis has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .499. However, it's not like Mojave struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Desert Oasis took their victory against Mojave in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 17-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Diamondbacks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
