Preview: Morgan Eagles vs. Blum Bobcats
Morgan and Blum are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Morgan Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Blum Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morgan has 12 straight victories, Blum has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Morgan didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Iredell, but they still walked away with a 58-54 win.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morgan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Adrian Alonzo, who scored 30 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Alonzo has scored at least a third of Morgan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Anthony Garcia, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Blum pushed their score all the way to 55 last Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 63-55 to Meridian.
Morgan's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. As for Blum, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16.
Morgan strolled past Blum in their previous meeting on January 2nd by a score of 71-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morgan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
